Kevin Costner’s ‘Horizon 2’ Release Pulled from Theaters

Kevin Costner’s Territory Pictures and New Line Cinema have decided to delay the release of ‘Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2‘ originally set for August 16. This decision comes after the underperformance of ‘Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1’ in theaters recently.

Following thorough discussions, both production companies are reevaluating their strategy to allow more time for the audience to discover the first film. ‘Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1’ carries a hefty $100 million budget and will now debut on Premium VOD on July 16 while still being screened in theaters.

The promotional efforts by Warner Bros. heavily featured Costner, who embarked on a nationwide tour and premiered the film at the Cannes Film Festival. Leveraging sister companies within Warner Bros. Discovery like TNT and TCM, the marketing campaign aimed to build anticipation for the movie.

As of now, there is no confirmed return date for ‘Horizon Chapter 2’ to the theatrical calendar. Furthermore, Warner Bros. and New Line have not secured distribution rights for the third and fourth installments of the series.
